Abstract
In the time of the Internet and modern technologies , The lack of agreement in attitudes, values, and norms has led to conflicts and significant disagreements between parents and children and their distance from each other. Therefore, this research aimed to evaluate the effects of young people's use of social media networks on their conflict with their mothers.
This research was conducted through a survey approach. The theoretical framework of this study was a combination of theories by Margaret Mead, Inglehart, Bourdieu, Giddens,. The statistical sample of the research included 367 male and female undergraduate students from all fields of study at Iran University of Science and Technology. The face validity of the questionnaire was established based on the opinions of experts and university professors, and its reliability was confirmed through Cronbach's alpha coefficient.
In this study, PLS models were used to test the conceptual model of the research. The findings indicated that students' use of domestic and international social networks, the number of youth memberships in social networks, and the interaction between mothers and children directly and significantly affected their conflict with mothers. Two variables, access to social networks and mothers' use of social networks, were indirectly significant in the conflict model with mothers. Three variables—purposes of use, time spent by youth on social media networks, and youth access to social networks—were not directly significant.
The results of the variable description of conflict with mothers indicated that the conflict between young people and mothers is generally moderate
